Initial sanding of Madrose (Dalbergia Baronii) for the first time, expecting it to be pretty resinous and the sets are all pretty thick.
I'm using cloth backed zirconium abrasives - should I start with 60 or 80 grit?

40 grit light passes., then switch to 60 grit when you get within the last few thousandths.

I'm close to what Aaron does. 36 grit to about .5 or .6mm over final thickness. Finish with #80 cabinet scraper.

I start with 60 grit till .125, then 100 grit to .105, the 150 to desired final dimension which for me is always .090 for back and sides. Tops are different.
